Recorded and mixed by hand in the band’s home studio, “Homeworks” is the most faithful portrayal of RedLight‘s essence: a French trio that, since 2007, has kept the flame of European alternative rock with an independent soul alive. In ten tracks and just under forty minutes, the Marseille-based group consolidates a trajectory that has always oscillated between raw energy and thoughtful melody, now honed with the maturity of someone who masters their own sound.
The album’s sound is a meeting of the organic weight of grunge and the melodic freshness of indie rock. There are echoes of Pearl Jam and The Strokes in the guitars, a dark touch à la The Cure in the atmospheres, and an emotional delivery reminiscent of the vigor of British bands from the early 2000s. The in-house production, by Dapé (guitarist and sound engineer), lends raw texture and real presence, without excessive polish, as if each track had been played within the listener’s reach.
