É nesse cenário que o produtor e engenheiro de som Matthew Parisi construiu mais de duas décadas de carreira nos bastidores. Após anos moldando a sonoridade polida de terceiros, inclusive no pop, Parisi viveu uma virada de chave ao se apresentar no Castle Party, festival polonês dedicado à cultura gótica. Sob a alcunha DEDCHIMP, o britânico lança seu single de estreia, ‘DEVOUR’. Longe de buscar saídas panfletárias para as crises globais, o projeto atua como um espectador resignado da ruína humana. Brighton, on England’s south coast, often appears in the Western imagination as a haven for open-minded arts, seaside sunshine, and independent festivals. Yet, its chilly alleyways and warehouses also harbor a somber tradition of electronic music and alternative rock. It is against this backdrop that producer and sound engineer Matthew Parisi has built a career spanning over two decades behind the scenes. After years of shaping the polished sound of other artists, including in the pop genre, Parisi experienced a turning point while performing at Castle Party, a Polish festival dedicated to goth culture. There, the technician gave way to the creator.
Under the moniker DEDCHIMP, the British artist releases his debut single, ‘DEVOUR’. Far from seeking slogan-like solutions to global crises, the project acts as a resigned spectator of human ruin. The track translates this stance into sound: corrosive electronic foundations and heavy guitars engage with a melodic sensibility that avoids mere mechanical noise. There is a deliberate friction between the aggression of alternative metal and the aesthetic precision of someone who has spent a lifetime mastering mixing consoles.
‘DEVOUR’ lays bare the exhaustion of a society trapped in an insatiable appetite for data, resources, and individual ambition. By acknowledging his own complicity in this cycle, Parisi turns the track into a confession devoid of moralizing.
