The single “Gold Standard,” released in August 2025 by Hudson Valley trio Our Bones, is not only a comeback after eight years of creative silence, but also a sonic manifesto against the dehumanization of late capitalism. Conceived during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 and completed in 2024, the track carries the urgency of a generation exhausted but not defeated.
Musically, the band navigates between the emotional density of post-rock (à la Explosions in the Sky) and the electric ferocity of Refused, with aggressively distorted and panned vocals in the choruses, a technical resource that amplifies the rage contained in the lyrics.
