A cena independente de Cingapura cresce num lugar onde tudo funciona até bem demais. Só que a cidade é tão rápida e impecável que, às vezes, parece que falta espaço para o improviso. É justamente nessa brecha que o ELARMA se enfia.
O trio, Elsa, Arif e Mark, não é gente nova na praça. Eles somam mais de vinte anos de estrada, tocando na noite local, pegando avião para o Japão, Filipinas e Estados Unidos, batendo cartão em banda de cover. Depois de girar tanto, resolveram se trancar num estúdio caseiro e fazer som do jeito deles.
No single “Leave This Behind”, a primeira coisa que salta aos olhos é a teimosia. Num momento em que a indústria empurra tudo para a perfeição fria dos algoritmos, os caras fazem questão do som feito na mão. A faixa começa no violão, ganha camadas de vozes bem encaixadas e puxa uma memória gostosa do rock alternativo dos anos 90 e 2000, dá para sentir um cheiro de Bic Runga e até a melancolia do The Cranberries ali no meio.

Singapore’s independent music scene is growing in a place where everything works, perhaps a bit too well. Yet, the city moves so fast and is so flawless that, at times, there seems to be no room for improvisation. That is precisely the gap ELARMA steps into.
The trio, Elsa, Arif, and Mark, are no newcomers. They have over twenty years of experience under their belts, playing the local nightlife circuit, flying to Japan, the Philippines, and the US, and putting in the hours in cover bands. After all that touring, they decided to lock themselves in a home studio and make music on their own terms.
With their single “Leave This Behind,” what immediately stands out is their refusal to compromise. At a time when the industry pushes everything toward the cold perfection of algorithms, they insist on a sound crafted by hand. The track begins with acoustic guitar, builds with layers of tight vocal harmonies, and evokes the pleasant nostalgia of 90s and, 2000s alternative rock, you can catch hints of Bic Runga and even the melancholic vibe of The Cranberries.
